The bean changed my mind that this almost 40 year old’s shredding days were in the past. These boards rip! I really believe Deviate has found a special shape with the bean. It rides like a long board while being no longer than an average popsicle deck. Super agile for shredding around the block and super stable for grabbing something from the store. Comes with loaded with premo hardware. Shoot I can finally keep up with my kid on their little scooter!

I have been riding Deviate’s Bean for a few weeks now and have really enjoyed the ride. I am 6’2” and 200+ pounds and just enjoy carving and pumping. I live in a flat area so I really have to get myself in a good rhythm moving with the board. I love the trucks being at the ends of the board and the round nose and tail, allowing me to work the whole board around.
I rode ride it with the trucks pretty tight due to my weight and it still responds very well. The whole board construction gives very little allowing me to really push my weight into my pumps.
Overall, a really enjoyable ride. My girls like it as a cruising ride as well.

The board is great. I missed rolling around the streets of NY enjoying the scenery. Also going to all the new skate parks and cruising around. Best purchase I made all year. Forget the stuff, I’m after experiences.

I have the Bean skateboard. it is a work of art and a fantastic board. it is super fun to ride. it carves and flows and is very smooth. feels like I am surfing on pavement. the workmanship is unparalleled. the wood grain and and finish are so nice. I have ridden many boards over the years and this by far is my favorite, both aesthetically and functionally. highly recommend!

The quality of this board is incredible. The wood is very sturdy and durable and the wheels make for a smooth ride on multiple surfaces. Having just owned the board for a few weeks now I am enjoying riding around the neighborhood but I can’t wait until the summer time when I can cruise around the beaches.

I’ve always wanted a board like The Bean. Short enough to easily take with me but wide enough to walk all over. The craftsmanship alone makes me want to hang it up in my house. I look forward to many cheater 5’s and ten toes on one of the smoothest riding boards I’ve come across. Jacksonville Beach, Florida will soon know Deviate!

At 60 I decided to relive my youth on a skateboard. No more tricks and flips, just more for exercise and enjoyment. I love getting out and riding the state parks and trails down here in Florida.
The Bean is a excellent board for me. I am a heavier guy at 6’1”. I don’t want a lot of center flex, The board holds my weight without that sag in the middle. Steers a little long but still has great response. I did buy the Rebel as a 2nd board for streets and sidewalks around town. Another good choice for me. The Bean is smooth and fast, built very well with quality. I looked at several other boards and it seems you do get what you pay for.

I recently took a position where part of my commute was going to be too long to walk and too short to deal with the headache of riding a bicycle. Now, I am not as young as I used to be and haven’t boarded for ‘several’ years but over a weekend I got to thinking, “Hey, you know what, a skateboard would be perfect for this situation.”. So my quest for a board began. I started looking around at some of the manufacturers who I have had boards from in the past and after going through a few minutes of regret that I got rid of them (who knew back then they would appreciate in value!) I decided a longboard would be the right fit for this ‘old guy’.There are cool longboards out there, but I wanted something with a little more quality and that ‘human’ touch. Honestly I found James and Deviate with the good old GOOGLE looking for quality handbuilt longboards. I checked out the reviews, read his story and knew I had found what I was looking for.I LOVE my Longboard! Like some of the other reviews state, it really is a work of art. I actually lean it up in my office so you can see it (basically showing it off) and have lotsa ‘nice board’ comments from folks I never would have guessed would ever have even noticed. It is also great getting the ‘nice board’ comments when I hop on and off the Ferry Boat that is part of my daily commute. But the best thing about it…. It rides like a dream!A new Deviate fan from the PNW – Dave V.

Such a fun ride! I’m not an aficionado but for me this board has been great. I got the Bean and it’s the perfect size for surfing around with the dog in the neighborhood. If you get a chance to visit the shop in Red Hook I recommend it, it’s a real treat! Nice to see the handiwork that goes into the making of these boards.

Recently, I came across this company online and thought the boards had the coolest look: clean and simple, but somehow still elegant looking. Beyond the aesthetic, the ride is phenomenal. 10x better than what I was riding before and only nominally more expensive. Worth every penny. After my tremendous experience with “The Bean,” I quickly added “The No-Name” to my future wish list. Last and most significantly, the owner, James, is worth supporting. He quit a high-paying finance job to fire away on his dream full-time—something that all of us might hope to do some day with enough courage. While I was browsing, James took time more than once to talk about custom boards and was super responsive to my questions about the off the rack options. I’ll never buy a skateboard somewhere else again.
